I wrote this during a car ride, thinking of my friend Joanne Hammil, who had recently been diagnosed with a brain tumor. She was having terrible migraines, vision problems, etc. Joanne is the "Queen of Rounds" - she knows them all, writes tons of them, and has a brain that is magnificent in its ability to coordinate syncopation, harmony, and lyric. It is ironic and humbling that the song that came to me is actually a round, or some version of a round. The recording lyric is "Joanne, I pray for you..." - however it is easily adapted to "My friend, I pray for you...." BTW There is a happy ending to this story in that she had a successful operation that relieved many of her symptoms and Joanne is to writing, performing, and leading magnificent choirs. Once she was feeling better, another round came to me, a little lighthearted, called "The Recovery Round". Hopefully I will find and post that recording also.
lyrics
My friend, I pray for you.
Peace, love, and healing,
My friend, I pray for you,
Healing, love and peace.
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Peace, love, and healing,
Breathe in, breathe out,
Healing, love, and peace.
Step by step,
We move in love toward healing,
Step by step,
Our healing brings us peace.
