I wrote this to honor the two interim ministers who had come to work at our congregational church amidst various issues of chaos etc. It is quite the skill to walk into other peoples' messes with the intent of being "a calm and un-anxious presence" in the turmoil. Many ministers are lauded for their leadership and the first verse is somewhat critical of that - that the calling is to be with a community - not apart from because of a role. So the ability to make that connection personally with people to draw them into the community creates the opportunity to feel like they are part of a place that everyone can call home.
